The PlayStation Plus lineup for June 2021 has been revealed, and it's just as the leak from earlier this week told us. Next month's PS5 game is Operation: Tango, which is a co-op focused spy game. It's a brand new release, which is always a nice bonus for Plus subscribers. Operation: Tango will also launch for PS4, but PS Plus subscribers only get access to the PS5 version.
Meanwhile, PS4 gets two relatively heavy hitters. First up is Star Wars: Squadrons, a fun dogfighting sim that's obviously set in the Star Wars universe. And on top of that is another new release: Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown.
This one's a pretty big deal, since it marks the return of SEGA's once huge fighting game property. It's a graphically updated version of 2012 PS3 title Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, rebuilt using the Yakuza series' Dragon Engine. It's launching exclusively for PS4 (although you will, of course, be able to play it on PS5 through backwards compatibility).
Interestingly, Ultimate Showdown will be available to PS Plus subscribers for two months instead of just one. It's also coming to PS Now in June β Sony's other subscription service.
We'll bring you full reviews of both Operation: Tango and Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown in the coming days. In the meantime, here's what we had to say about Star Wars: Squadrons in our review:
Star Wars: Squadrons has its heart in the right place and a comprehensive, in-depth set of flight mechanics go a long way towards realising that childhood dream of piloting an X-Wing. It achieves the vision in some ways, but in others, the package lacks excitement and content. While excellent PSVR support will be enough for some, a boring story and inadequate multiplayer modes leave a lot to be desired.
You can download all three games starting from next week, on Tuesday, 1st June.

Sweet!
(yup, that's all I have to say)
Great month! Excited to play VF5!
I'm more than happy with VF 5.
Pretty much worth the PS plus sub for me if it's true to the original release.
Nice! Does Star Wars Squadron include VR or is that a separate release?
Not bad, not bad but needs some more MSG.
Happy with all 3 games included. Well done Sony.
@2cents it does indeed π
I was keen on trying out all three, so this is a fantastic month for me. Getting the Dragon Engine remaster of Virtua Fighter 5 is HUGE.
@2cents they're not separate, pal. VR mode is bundled in with the version available β
Leakers right again. Looking forward to VF 5 Ryu Ga Gotoku edition!
Another great month
When does the new month start? Are these games available on June 1st? I'm new to PS Plus.
Squadrons is good! The others are poor, this isn't a month for me really. Hope July is better. At least I've got Returnal and Ratchet & Clank to get me through.
Its a pretty good month for sure. Looking forward to checking out Operation Tango.
I received Squadrons as a Christmas present from my wonderful wife. Why couldnβt she see into the future to know that it would shortly be a Plus game? π
The game is good, but I had an awkward time with the controls after growing up playing Tie Fighter on PC. I think I just stink at flight sims.
Iβll check out VF5. Squadrons is on EA Play and GamePass so nothing to see there for me.
Canβt wait to play Squadrons in VR! Can you play Operation: Tango solo? Bit useless to me if not!
@3RedTriangles
They're released on the first Tuesday of the month, so yeah, this month it'll be the 1st.
Wow, a month where I actually don't own any of the games already. Sweet, I've been waiting for Squadrons to go on a deep sale and now knowing that VF5 is on the Dragon engine, has me stoked for that release.
Great month. Too bad I just bought Squadrons on disc - might as well wait and install the digital version now π
Squadrons is a dogfighting sim? Never heard this term before as English is not my native language. Funny name
Very very good month!
Oh yes! Virtua Fighter is one of my favourite series EVER! Great month!
@HMazzy111 how do you know they are releasing on plus? They could be the best games ever.
Personally what a flipping month!!!
Lame-o! Another crappy month.
@Mysterio dogfight, or dog fight, is an aerial battle between fighter aircraft conducted at close range. Dogfighting first occurred in Mexico in 1913, shortly after the invention of the airplane. Until at least 1992, it was a component in every major war, despite beliefs after World War II that increasingly greater speeds and longer-range weapons would make dogfighting obsolete.
Meh...

Canβt wait til next Tuesday! Looking forward to trying Squadrons and Operation Tango. And really looking forward to just having Virtua Fighter!
@hi_drnick
Haiyaaa
VF5 and Star Wards Squadrons is very cool. Operation Tango much less so. Was hoping for something like The Pathless. But no surprises, as per the earlier leak.
Obviously Virtua Fighter is Sony and helpful for their now owned Evo Tournament. Might be another game in the series lined for for next year, too.
Don't care for the other two but virtua fighter 5 is good π
@themcnoisy It's mad how humankind invent something and literally the first thing they think is "let's use these to fight!"
I finally got dreams by the way and checked out some of your tracks, decent! Well done! I'm inspired to make some stuff too but I have many more tutorials to watch!
Great to see Star Wars Squadrons on there, really enjoyed the dog fights in Battlefront 2 so looking forward to this. Don't know much about Operation Tango but intrigued by the concept so will give it a bash. Good month.
Best month for a while for me just because of Virtua Fighter 5
I wish I had 4 hands I could give these games 4 thumbs down ππππ
Meh nothing that interests me
Absolutely fantastic month. I don't own any of these games, so it's a win in my book.
@ralphdibny I'm not in a position to help ATM but give it a week Ralph and we can make something together!
PlayStation plus has been better than Xbox game pass to be honest.
Can't wait to jump back into VF5 again! I'll also give Squadons a go at some point. Great month! Operation Tango looks cool too.
SW Squadrons is a must play for psvr owners. Multiplayer never sucked me in. Had a moba and then 5v5 dogfighting which turned into just a bunch of 5v1s for the 2nd half of the match.
But the single player aspect was quite meaty. About 15-20 missions if I recall and each lasting 20-30 min. In VR it is quite engrossing. A shame it clearly didn't sell well, but it was enjoyable non the less.
@themcnoisy ah no worries but cheers tho! I'm literally n00bing it out at the moment! I haven't even got onto the music tutorials yet!
@themcnoisy What? How do I know I won't like them? It's very simple; I know what I like. I find those kind of fighting games repetive and dull, the other one looks kind of ropey from what I've seen and it's not something I'd ever want to play, just isn't my kind of thing. I might play Squadrons but not the others, you can still play them though so my opinion shouldn't affect you.
Sooooooo happy I loved Virtua Fighter V back in the day so a Dragon Engine re-do is an instant HELL YEAH!!! in my book
Nice, but i'll give operation tango a miss as I have no friends.
Cool month.definetly downloading them.but really excited for virtua fighter 5 ultimate showdown.word up son
I tried not renewing my PS+ this month, but Star Wars: Squadrons might be enough to get me to reup
Grateful for Virtua Fighter. Please give it a try. π
Another pretty good month. 3 games I probably wouldn't have bought, but I'd like to check out. Got to hand it to Sony with their PS+ games since the launch of PS5, I don't think they get enough credit. If you had offered me what we've got with the 20 collection games at about Β£15 for 6 months over game pass at more than that each month I'd easily pick +. There's only so many games I can play a month and the smaller indie offerings have gone down nicely with the bigger games. Good stuff, I hope it lasts.
Good month! Always good to see Sega dusting off its classics and Squadrons looks interesting, I'm not a fan of Star Wars but Squadrons looks kinda fun.
I don't see anything to get excited about. Two PS4 games that look really repetitive.
Unfortunately OT is co-op but with no local two player option I donβt think. So thatβs pointless for me.
VF Iβm not a big fan of, but Squadrons Iβll try because itβs VR, and most things in VR are just great to experience.
Nothing that strikes my fancy, really. I am sure those are some great games, just nothing for me personally.
Sweeeeeet! Great month! Been a long time since I played a Star Wars flight sim, and have been itching to tru Squadron. And Virtua Fighter!! In Dragon Engine!!! BRING IT ON!!
@Jayofmaya I had this thought too. The VF news is very interesting in the context of the EVO acquisition. π€
Wow, impressive selection. Squadrons is a fantastic VR and non-VR game, Virtua Fighter is probably one of the most underrated fighters out there and Operation Tango looks like it has some great co-op.
@IronMike Its still better than the May 2020 lineup tho lololol
(FARMING SIMULATOR? WHAT WAS SONY SMOKING? AHAHAHAHHAHHHHAHAAA!!!)
Solid month, keep these new releases coming! I love when I donβt own any of the titles.
After debacle of Street Fighter V, I'm quite afraid of another 1on1 fighting game. Squadrons left mixed feelings too based on local store sales... I'll grab both and see.
I'm really excited about Virtua Fighter. I haven't played one since the arcade as a kid and it's got me feeling all nostalgic. Can't wait!
I'll give VF5 a go just to see how bad I am at this game. I won't even redeem the rest.
Some of you saying it's a great month? Damn... it was expected, there had to be a bad month at some point. For the ones that haven't played Squadrons, it get boring after 1.5 hours. Virtua fighter? Meh.
Trying Virtua Fighter since I really donβt care about the others
Already own Squadrons, got the game at launch. Didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. I own VF5 over on PS3, its a very good game, probably an excellent one, but I'm not very good at the VF games, despite playing them since the Saturn.
Really big meh from me. A PS3 fighting game if I'm not mistaken? A star wars game again...didn't we have one about a year ago?
Nothing of any interest to me. Been several months since anything theyβve had is something Iβd play. Bit of a bummer but Ratchet & Clank and FF7 DLC will occupy me.
Like i say before...crap
Zero interest, yet again.
Downloading VF 5, not sure about the others.
@sullivans2004 wow what a cockwomble
@Bagwag82
Cockwomble lmfao thats a good one, I'm gonna casually steal that and use it for bullying random arseholes on twitter/insta in the future
Nothing interesting for me, will skip renewing PS+ subscription for another month...
worst month of the year so far.. It was very good during the first 4 months (probably to attract new subs).. but these last two months bleeeh
Love it... Having Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown there is a big deal. Love the franchise and I can't wait to play this rebuilt of the game using the Dragon Engine.
Operation: Tango looks like a interesting/fun co-op game. I will give it a go too.
@Mysterio yeah, a 'dogfight' is like a fight between 2 planes or aircraft/ whatever. I guess because they're 'dogging' after each other? But I dunno; you're right, it's a weird one
@76Junglist fuiyoh!
I wasnβt even aware there was anything past Virtua Fighter 3. Right on!
Love the selection this month. Operation Tango looks like it could be a lot of fun. And always down for some Star Wars dogfighting. Nicely done!
Wow. A coop only game.
I'll be grabbing Squadrons and Virtua Fighter 5 for sure.
Zero interest in any of them but I can't win every month.
@2cents Not seperate
Squadrons was one I have had my eye on, looking for a decent discount, so that's a win. I like the look of Operation Tango, but so far none of my friends have been able to get a PS5, which seems odd given how easily I got one at launch (UK)
@IronMike when did we last get a fighting game or a Star Wars game?
Disappointing month games are pretty cheesy,might as well just switch to Xbox donβt really wanna play a sim escape room a a generic fighting game, or a ship shooter.....highly disappointed
Not a great month for me personally, but only because I already own SW Squadrons, otherwise I would have been more than happy with that. The other two don't interest me but that's fine. More than enough to play anyway. And it's EURO 2020 in a couple of weeks so I won't have much time to play anyway!
Way better lineup than last month. Excited to try all of these!
isn't it strange that a new game is free?
wtf?
I literally only bought Yakuza to run to the arcade and play this.
I'm glad I don't have to buy it again - but I would have also happily paid for it.
Overall I think this is a good selection. In all honesty, I might not ever play any of them but I can appreciate that the selection is at least diverse and recent. (Well, VF5 isnβt recent, but this remaster certainly is)
Calling Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown a 'NEW' release, while factual is also a bit of a stretch.
VF5 was originally released 14 years ago.
Virtua Fighter 5 FINAL Showdown was given away with PS+ on PS3 7 years ago.
This is the same game with a fresh coat of paint.
@hi_drnick Nice to see other cousins on here. Uncle Roger will be happy!!!
Again, what's the point in the game crossover of ps+ plus/ps now? It's like they want you to own one or the other instead of both.
They're starting to spoil us now.
Long may it continue.
Great month get to dust off my vr as well . Be the first time on my ps5 well done sony
Been waiting for a new virtua fighter for years, can't wait to see how well it plays on ps5, and without virtua fighter there may not have been tekken?
@ViolentEntity or Namco's answer to Virtua Fighter π
I would very much prefer an "okay" single player game instead of both operation tango and the starwars.
